3. Rules on drafting documents

Texts for publication in the Official Journal must exist in each of the official languages of the EU and follow strict drafting rules.

When published, the texts in all language versions of the Official Journal are synoptic, meaning that the same text can be found on the same page of the same OJ in all official languages.

Acts published in the Official Journal must also follow the rules laid out in Parts Three and Four of this guide, as well as in the annexes, especially with regard to capitalisation (including for committees or commissions), abbreviations, addresses, etc.
