About the website

Read about the Interinstitutional Style Guide website and its features.

This is an interinstitutional website, managed by the Publications Office and hosted on the OP Portal. It uses some of the functions available on the portal, notably the possibility to log in and to add alerts. It also enables the use of personal bookmarks and settings.

The site is responsive, meaning that it can be used as easily on a tablet or a mobile as on a laptop or a desktop. See, for example, the countries and territories table in Annex A5.

The website aims to be accessible and can be used with assistive technologies such as screen readers. Improving the accessibility of the content is a continuous process.

Bookmarks

‘Manage bookmarks’ opens a panel showing a list of recommended bookmarks. Log in to add your own bookmarks. You can then rename them, create folders and use drag and drop to change the order.

You will find a complete list of correspondences between the old website and the new one in the document ‘Redirections list’.

Bilingual view

A bilingual view is possible in the first three parts, which are common to all language versions. It is not possible in the fourth part because the content there is language specific. The annexes are also excluded from the bilingual view as their content varies from language to language or is sorted in alphabetical order according to the language.

Toolbar and settings

From the toolbar on the left you can easily find the content you are looking for via the table of contents, the search and the index. You can also find other formats of the style guide.

In the settings, you can choose to hide the toolbar text descriptions, move the toolbar to the right and continue where you left off the last time you visited the website. To change the settings, you need to be logged in.

On a tablet or a mobile the toolbar always appears at the bottom.

Alert

You can create an alert from the news page of the website, to be notified daily or weekly about modifications or other news.

PDF versions

From the toolbar, you can also open the PDF that is created every time the website is updated. You can consult it online, where it will open at the page you are currently viewing in the browser. You can also download it directly.

A PDF version meant for printing will be created around once a year or after major updates. This version has full identifiers and you can order it on the EU publications site, on the page reached via ‘Order a copy’ on the toolbar.

User account

When you log in to the site, you are logging in to the OP Portal. This explains why you are given the choice of using EU Login or a dedicated OP Portal account. Once logged in, your name will appear and you will be able to see account details, profile lists and alerts that are valid on the OP Portal as well as on the style guide website.
