About us
Read about the team behind the Interinstitutional Style Guide and its website.
We are a small editorial team within the Standardisation Unit at the Publications Office of the European Union in Luxembourg, responsible for the general coordination and management of the Interinstitutional Style Guide.
We cooperate closely with the 24 interinstitutional linguistic groups covering the official EU languages, with a working group comprising representatives of the EU institutions and with various services within the institutions that help us keep the contents up to date.
Correct and updated information, available to users as quickly as possible, is the goal of our editorial work. We prepare new concepts to be added and arrange for their translation; we collect and verify information on changes to the names of countries, currencies, agencies, etc.; we analyse decisions taken in the different groups and ensure their coherence with the general rules and common conventions; and we implement modifications in all language versions.
In developing the style guide we follow the strategic orientations and general guidelines approved by the Steering Committee. Based on the guidelines from 2020, we have modernised the style guide to suit the needs of users today. We encourage you to contribute actively to improving the guide by communicating useful information and suggestions, along with any errors or omissions you may find.
