You will find below a list of specific points, in alphabetical order, which are either problematic or subject to a particular convention. (NB: There is no Annex B in the English version of the style guide.)

| presidency | Do not use the expression ‘European Union presidency’, as it is legally incorrect. Use ‘Council (of the European Union) presidency’ or ‘(European) Council presidency’, depending on which Council is meant.
NB:
In order to accurately quote a speech, ‘European Union presidency’ is acceptable if the speaker has used that expression, intentionally or not. |
| Salmonella | Do not write ‘Salmonella enteritidis’ and ‘Salmonella typhimurium’, but ‘Salmonella Enteritidis’ and ‘Salmonella Typhimurium’. Most microorganisms are identified by their genus (written with an initial capital) and species (written in lower case), both in italics, for example ‘Escherichia coli’ (abbreviated as ‘E. coli’). However, Salmonella consists of only two species ( S. enterica and S. bongori) and six subspecies, but approximately 2 600 serovars. For instance, the full name of Salmonella serovar Typhimurium is Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium, with the genus, species and subspecies names written in italics, the ranks (‘subsp.’ and ‘serovar’) in roman, and the serovar name also in roman. As this way of writing is complicated, it is generally abbreviated to Salmonella Typhimurium, with the genus name in italics and the serovar name in roman, the first letter of each word being capitalised. |
